THURSDAY OCTOBER 28 6 PM /NYC 5 PM COLOMBIA JUEVES 28 DE OCTUBRE 6PM HORA NYC / 5 PM COLOMBIA

A hybrid virtual/in-person event highlighting changemakers and those advocating change in sectors such as Film, Art and Politics with a keynote by Colombian presidential candidate Ms. Francia Marquez Mina, direct from Colombia. Broadcast will be in English and Spanish with interpretation for Ms. Mina speech and Q&A. Interpretation support provided by AfroResistance.

Recording Artist Goyo, Chocquibtown

Gloria Martinez pka Goyo is one-third of the recording group Chocquibtown. Choc (Chocó) Quib (Quibdó) Town (our town), Colombian hip-hop and alternative music band has become one of the most internationally well known Latin American bands. Mixing urban sounds with folklore from the pacific coast region, they initially achieved success independently and now with Sony Music Latin have become a group of musicians, ambassadors of Colombian music in the world. Their sound merges funk, hip hop, reggae, pop, Latin rhythms and elements of electronic music to produce elaborate beats resulting in a blend of flavors.

Camille Wright, Senior Vice President Brand Marketing & Communications at Ampro Industries, Inc.
Camille Wright is the Senior Vice President Brand Marketing & Communications at Ampro Industries, Incorporated based in United States.Camille holds a key position within a well established organization in the beauty and personal care industry. She is responsible for the marketing and management of several key legacy brands which produce staple products. Camille enjoys her work because it takes place in a stable environment. Her work has also led to lasting relationships in the personal care industry and expanded her knowledge in the fields of marketing, public relations, communications, advertising and social media.

Kimberly Fayette, Legal Fellow New York City Commission on Human Rights
Kimberly Fayette is a Justice Catalyst-Public Rights Project Fellow, at the New York City Commission on Human Rights (NYCCHR) working to enforce the NYC ban on hair discrimination. Ms. Fayette is a 2020 graduate of the New York University School of Law, where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern Public Interest Scholar.


Mai-Elka Prado, Festival Afrolatino NYC
Mai-Elka Prado Gil is a singer-songwriter, producer, curator and the creator of the Afro Latino Festival of New York. The Festival is one of the most genuine and influencing spaces for culture and community in NY. Her works have been included in exciting projects of Black Latin American culture with Grammy Nominee Petrona Martinez and Magín Diaz of Colombia, Topic documentary "Miss Panamá" premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2021 and Disney+ show "Turning The Tables with Robin Roberts" premiering Summer 2021

With the support of extraordinary activists around the world, we foster and deepen ties of international political solidarity to support racial justice movements in the Americas.

Flor Montero is a first generation Dominican womban, Human Rights activist, social scientist, popular educator, Doula, and conscious traveler. She was born and raised in New York City and is committed to serving humanity through the liberation and deconstruction of the white patriarchal-colonial system.She has worked in a variety of fields throughout the Americas, with grassroots organizations, NGO’s and federal government such as Amnesty International, Women's March and the Peace Corps primarily in the United States, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Presently Flor serves as the new Development Director of Afro Resistance, is a first-time mom to an 18-month young child and resides in the Bronx, NY.
